FAQS

CSA Boxes

1.  WHAT IS A CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture is a contract between the farmer and the customer, essentially a gardening service: we grow your veggies for you!

2.  WHY PURCHASE VEGGIES THROUGH A CSA?

You will receive the freshest vegetables, grown using methods that focus on whole-system and whole-body health. You’ll have a relationship with the people who grow your food and get the benefit of supporting your local economy. You have a say in what we grow; we are always changing to reflect the needs of our customers. And with less packaging and transport needs, it is a true farm to table experience.

3.  WHAT IS ALL INCLUDED IN MY SUBSCRIPTION?

Expected Products: Head lettuce, spring mix, spinach, asparagus, cabbage, radish, kohlrabi, turnip, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, pac choi, summer onion, scallion, beefsteak, heirloom tomato, cherry tomato, english cucumber, snacking cucumber, hot peppers, sweet peppers, bell peppers, beets, swiss chard, carrots, celery, melons, winter squash, zucchini, beans, snap peas, sweet corn, garlic, eggplant, parsnips and many herbs

Possible Products: Strawberries, apples

And that's just the produce! Your subscription also comes with excellent customer service, plenty of smiles and recipe cards to help you make the most of your incredible veggies!

4.  HOW MUCH IS IN MY BOX?

A large box should accommodate the veggie needs of a family of 5-6. A small box is a good amount for the average needs of 2-3 people. If you enjoy plenty of fresh salads, smoothies and soups, you may find going up a size is best for you.

5.  WHAT IF I DON’T WANT ALL MY VEGGIES?

We understand that not everybody will like all the veggies in some boxes; we suggest passing them on to someone else or trying one of the delicious recipes that come with the box!

6.  CAN I CHOOSE MY PRODUCE EACH WEEK?

Yes and no! Each week, you will receive whatever is ready in our gardens (just like you would in your own home garden). Most weeks will include options such as, for example, a choice between romaine lettuce or spring mix, or between carrots and beets. We set up a market stand at each pick up location, so you have the freedom to select whichever allotted vegetables look best to you, just like you would at the grocery store.

7.  WHAT IF I GO ON VACATION?

Feel free to pass your box onto someone else – we know they will enjoy it!

8.  ARE THERE ANY SUBSTITUTIONS?

See question 6.

9.  ARE YOU ORGANIC?

We are not certified organic, however we go above and beyond what is called for in certification. Ask us about our growing standards!

10.  ARE THERE OPTIONS FOR FRUIT?

Melons, strawberries and apples are typical throughout the season, though the shares are primarily in vegetables. We are very excited to be launching our Fruit Share pilot program this year, an add-on to our vegetable shares for previous subscribers only.

11.  WHERE ARE THE PICKUP LOCATIONS?

Kleefeld - Prairie Wild Farm
Grunthal - Credit Union parking lot
Steinbach - Oakridge Café and Greenhouse AND Clearspring Farmer's Market

12.  HOW MANY CSAS ARE AVAILABLE THIS YEAR?

We are only selling 100 spots this year! Sign up early to reserve your subscription.

13.  HOW DO I SIGN UP?
